We all experience stress, every day. Stress is only a problem when we have too much of it or when it interferes with other aspects of our lives – much like depression . Research shows that having a dog, petting a dog, walking a dog, and otherwise spending time with a pet is a stress-reducer. Petting a dog lowers our blood pressure and reduces stress hormones in your body. Do you know what else does that? Taking advice from a dog! That’s right, reading Dear Mishu’s column and trying to get in the mindset of a dog can definitely help reduce anxiety. Why? Because dogs have a simple approach to life and live in the moment, so they don’t get hung up with all the little things that cause humans to worry. So next time you start to feel tense or worried, just grab your dog for a pet or a walk, or open up dearmishu.com or @dearmishu on instagram and inhale a little of that dog peace!
Now is Now – Really, it is
When I say Now is Now, I’m trying to remind you to focus on the moment you are in, instead of your worries about tomorrow or yesterday. #NowIsNow #DearMishu #Mindfulness
The Inside Story
Even if you’re under a lot of stress, and have a lot of worries. If you stop for a minute and just exist in the moment you are in, you can find relief from that stress. Look at the sunset. Breathe and appreciate that you can. Look at your dog, your child, your friend. Pay attention to how lucky you are to have food to eat, or clean water.

The Inside Story
It was back in January, when Guatemala bred and California raised Mishu, experienced snow for the very first time. She walked down the steps, took a few steps, and immediately tried to go back up. The video doesn’t show everything, but there was about 5 minutes of Mishu repeatedly being lured or carried out to the snow, and then escaping back under cover or up the stairs.
Are you the kind of person who likes to be alone when you’re hurt (I do). If so – it’s okay to cuddle in a ball, get under the covers, and eat a yummy #treat. It’s also helpful to go for a walk in the woods or at the #beach by yourself — see the #beautiful world, smell it, and try to feel the possibility of #renewal….. If being with others helps you #heal, then surround yourself with loved ones and do those things with them. ….Take care, Melissa… Love, Mishu #dearmishu
Mishu: How to stop being tired and stressed during the day? Some people like to drink #coffee, but I’m not allowed. Instead I make sure to get lots of sleep at night, take naps during the day, and I have one more trick. I like to drink a lot of water! Water is yummy and every time I am next to my bowl I make sure to have a couple sips. It makes me have so much more energy during the day, so I don’t feel depressed or stress! Water keeps me happy. #DearMishu
The Inside Story:
Mishu’s response to “How to Stop Being Tired During the Day”
Serge asked Mishu for a solution to a great question – one that plagues many humans — lack of energy or tiredness during the day. When we’re tired, we tend to feel less happy and be less capable of dealing effectively with the stress and anxiety of our modern lives.
