Juan asks about Freedom; Mishu answers

Dear Juan,
I wish I could run as fast as I can for as long as I want, but I wouldn’t want to give up treats, a comfy place to sleep, and my humans….  Did you know that some humans they aren’t free – and they also don’t get good food, a comfy place to sleep or to be with the people they love?  Human trafficking is a terrible problem. The Inside Story

As many of you know, Dear Mishu had a tough puppyhood in a place where animals are often neglected. There are so many animals in this situation in the world, that it can be easy to overlook the horrible crimes we humans enact on our own species. read more

My Dad has been sick for a while. Do you have any advice? Luna asks, Mishu answers

Dear Luna,
I’m sorry your Dad is sick and it’s so hard. You are doing something beautiful by caring for your father. This is something to be very proud of. Set a reminder every day to remember this, and feel proud. Maybe it will give you the strength to carry on.

Love,
Mishu

The Inside Story

Family trouble, especially an illness in the family can be very taxing. It can take a toll emotionally, physically, and financially. It can cause a lot of stress. This is especially the case when the illness is serious, lasts for a long time, prevents the sick person and even family members from working. That kind of thing is very hard for a family to deal with. read more

Happy National Puppy Day, from me and my BPF (Best Puppy Friend), Onyx!

What do I love about Onyx?  He’s spunky and fun and wild! And very cute! And small!

Puppies make everyone feel loved because they’re “the most trusting and joyous creatures on the planet” (as Colleen Paige, the founder of National Puppy Day says).

A puppy is guaranteed to bring joy to your life, and if you can adopt a puppy and give a homeless dog a home, even better!

Dear Taylor:

I don’t really date, but I do get a lot of attention — and you KNOW I’m not worrying about what people think of me… I suggest just be real and be yourself, because that’s what people like best. #DearMishu #BeReal

How do you deal with #heart break? Melissa asks, Mishu answers. #DearMishu #hurt

Dear Melissa,

Are you the kind of person who likes to be alone when you’re hurt (I do). If so – it’s okay to cuddle in a ball, get under the covers, and eat a yummy #treat. It’s also helpful to go for a walk in the woods or at the #beach by yourself — see the #beautiful world, smell it, and try to feel the possibility of #renewal….. If being with others helps you #heal, then surround yourself with loved ones and do those things with them. ….Take care, Melissa… Love, Mishu #dearmishu read more

The Inside Story
Mishu’s response to “What is Love?”

Mishu’s response to Alex’s question was as simple as can possibly be: Love is making each other happy.

How did Mishu teach us this?  Mishu definitely makes her family members feel loved, and we can learn a lot about love from observing her behavior.

Some of the things she does to show love are: she greets her family members and friends at the door with enthusiasm and she waits to go to bed until everyone is at home and in bed. Another thing she does, which is amazing, is that whenever a family member is sick or depressed, Mishu comes and sits nearby them. read more

I tell everyone (who I like) that I like them by SHOWING my #excitement when I see them. Maybe you can try that? And don’t worry about all the other stuff, like if he likes you back or how much he likes you or other things that will drive you crazy. #DearMishu #Love

Dear Mishu:  Advice Column

Hi there,

If you’ve landed on this page, you’ve probably heard about me, Dear Mishu, the advice columnist who is also a dog. Hopefully, you’ve had time to browse my blog and look at some of my more popular posts, such as How to Deal with Stress, what to do when you keep failing despite your best efforts,  or how to choose a career.

You may be wondering why I’m qualified to give advice — especially to humans.

Because unlike humans, I keep things very simple, I live in the moment and am always present, I do what I want and do worry about what others think of me, I’m free-spirited, and know how to give and receive love.  Wouldn’t you like to be like this all the time? read more
