I’m an athlete. I feel like I’m getting in my head and doubting my abilities. What can I do to calm down? Abi asks, Mishu answers.
Dear Abi – I like treats. I think you should eat a small (human) treat before you practice or compete, and imagine that you are getting that treat from me. Focus on the feeling that Dear Mishu and your friends here are behind you 100%. Then just let your body do what it knows how to do!
My partner is always unsatisfied and gets #angry with me a lot. What should I do, N. Asks, Mishu answers.
Dear N. – I usually run away from people who are angry at me. If they’re angry a lot, I don’t even get near them to start. In my experience angry people can hurt you, so if I were you I would you get away.
A: Dear A.: When I meet dogs I like, I give them a play bow to say, ‘hey, let’s play.’ If they bow back and start playing – great. If not, that’s ok too. Maybe ask her if she likes to do something you really like, and if she says yes, invite her to join you sometime. If she says no then you can play by yourself or ask someone else to join you….
… Just think – asking someone to play is actually the easy part. The hard part comes if they say yes and you have to learn to get along.

Maybe when you’re stressed and wanting to eat bad food, think about all the good things you want to do and what food will help you do them! Also, if you’re stressed, maybe a squeaky toy could help?
