You have 300-400 minutes a day when you’re not working or sleeping. Spend them on what matters to you and they’ll feel like everything.

I am job searching and it’s so discouraging, Jasmin asks, Mishu answers..

Dear Jasmin,
You are not your job. You are not what the people who you hope will hire you think you are. You’re a complete human being. Can you find things to do that remind you of that and make yourself feel good and successful?

How can I change my life, Jasmin asks, Mishu answers

Dear Jasmin,

You don’t always have the power to change your life, but you *can* change how you relate to the things that happen to you. I used to live in a house with a big yard and I loved lying in the sun all day. Now I live in an apartment which kind of sucked at first. So I figured out where the sun hits in the apartment at different times of day, and I move around to catch the sun and really enjoy myself!

How can I stop feeling bad about myself, Jo asks, Mishu answers

How can I stop feeling bad about myself, Jo asks, Mishu answers

Dear Jo:
Stop thinking about your thoughts…. being mad at yourself or worrying about feeling bad just makes it worse….  Just let yourself feel bad or think negative thoughts for a little while, & then try to move on. Let me know how it goes.  #NowIsNow

The Inside Story

Feeling bad about yourself isn’t fun, but it’s part of life sometimes. Mishu’s message is to stop feeling bad about feeling bad — it only makes it worse.

Negative emotions are a normal part of life

Everyone feels bad about themselves at some point. It’s normal. But we make it worse when we worry about our worries, or feel bad about our bad feelings.

Anxiety often takes the form of worrying not just about tangible things, but about the fact that we’re worrying. Or, if you tend to be critical of yourself, getting angry at yourself when you find yourself doing that. read more

Now is Now – Really, it is

Dear Blake,

When I say Now is Now, I’m trying to remind you to focus on the moment you are in, instead of your worries about tomorrow or yesterday. #NowIsNow #DearMishu #Mindfulness

The Inside Story

Now is Now. Mishu posts about it a lot.  Like here and here and here
Why? Because so many of us forget to breathe, forget to pay attention to what  is happening now in this very moment.

Even if you’re under a lot of stress, and have a lot of worries. If you stop for a minute and just exist in the moment you are in, you can find relief from that stress. Look at the sunset. Breathe and appreciate that you can. Look at your dog, your child, your friend. Pay attention to how lucky you are to have food to eat, or clean water. read more
